Ron Brown

Ron Brown is the new Pastor of Coleman Bapist Church!

Ron was born in Cushing, Oklahoma. His family and relatives reside in Broken Arrow and Rogers county.  Growing up, his dad’s company moved the family every two-three years; so Ron lived in Oklahoma, Texas, Southern California and Tennessee.  His grandmother started a spiritual conversation with Ron, confronting him with who Jesus is and his eternal destiny.  Since that conversation, the Holy Spirit kept bringing these matters to Ron’s mind until a Baptist pastor explained more of the gospel with him; Ron trusted in Christ for salvation and eternal life with God.  At Wilcrest Baptist Church in Houston, Texas in the fall of 1978, Ron was baptized.

During college, Ron was active in church ministries and the Baptist Student Union at Memphis State University.  After graduation, Ron served two years (1985-1987) in Seoul, South Korea as a Foreign Mission Board Journeyman missionary teaching English and doing student work.  While in Seoul, the Lord called Ron into missions and ministry.  Ron attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where he received a Master of Divinity degree.  At Southwestern, Ron met Robin Anderson, who graduated with a Master of Religious Education.  Ron and Robin married in 1990.

Since both were called to be missionaries overseas, Ron and Robin were appointed to Botswana as International Service Corps volunteers with the International Mission Board where they worked with students and young people from 1991 to 1993.  Their oldest, Robert, was born in Gaborone.  In December 1993, Ron and Robin were appointed as career missionaries to Hungary.  After two months of training, they moved to Hungary and began their long lasting season of ministry in March of 1994.

Ron and Robin learned the language and culture and served in student and youth ministry, church planting, community outreach, discipling and equipping believers to serve and assisting Hungarian Baptist churches with serving their communities, evangelism, making disciples, equipping believers and developing leaders.  Rebekah and Renald were born in Szeged, Hungary.

In November 2015, Ron and Robin accepted the IMB’s voluntary retirement incentive so that they could live closer to assist aging parents.  Prior to accepting Coleman’s call to be their pastor, Ron served as a bi-vocational supply preacher/interim for churches in the Wichita Archer Clay County Baptist Association in Wichita Falls, Texas.
