For the Fourth Sunday of Advent: December 23, 2018

The fourth candle of Advent represents peace and is called the “Angel’s Candle.”

The angels announced that Jesus came to bring peace — He came to reconcile sinners to God and each other.

Luke 2:10-14 says:  And the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger." And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

Romans 5:1 says:  Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

O God: In Jesus is our peace. Jesus came and died so that we might be reconciled to You. Because of Jesus we are no longer enemies, but friends. We enjoy peace with you forever! Amen!

Light the fourth candle!
